October 4th (Sunday). Depart from New Orleans (or elsewhere)

Arrival October 5th (Monday): Toulouse Blagnac airport  (depending on flight flexibility.) Time travelling from Toulouse to Sarlat: 2h17.  A bus will pick us up.  Please plan your arrival in Toulouse in the late morning or early afternoon.

Day 1 (Monday). Late arrival hotel in the heart of Sarlat la Caneda.  Welcome Dinner

Day 2  (Tuesday). Visit of historical Sarlat la Caneda and to the Manoir de Gisson.

Day 3 (Wednesday). Visit to the Chateau des Milandes (Josephine Baker’s chateau) in the morning ; Lunch in the chateau restaurant and Visit of the Suspended gardens of Marqueyssac in the afternoon.

Day 4 (Thursday). Prehistory: visit of Lascaux IV, the Village of St. Leon sur Vézère (Lunch in a restaurant); visit of the Maison forte de Reignac.

Day 5 (Friday). Vineyards and Old Stones: visit to Bergerac and the Chateau Monbazillac; Lunch and visit of the vineyards with tasting of 3 (from the 13) appellations “Bergerac” at the chateau.

Day 6. (Saturday): Market in Sarlat and food tour with a tasting of local products.

Day 7 (Sunday). Day on the river: Choice of small cruise on the Vézère or the Dordogne (best is the Vézère Gabares Norbert (with view from the river of the Cirque des Falaises des Pendoilles , La Roque Gageac, Port de la Malatrie, Chateau de Castelnaud).  Afternoon special visit of the chateau of Castelnaud.

Day 8 (Monday). A Gothic architecture day: visit to the Château de Biron in the morning, lunch and visit to the Abbaye and the cloister of Cadoin in the afternoon.

Day 9 (Tuesday). Truffle day: visit to the Ecomusée de laTruffle; Lunch at the Comptoir des Halles in Sorges and visit of St. Jean de la Cole (one of the Plus Beaux Villages de France), afternoon visit to a farm “Maison du foie gras” with tasting.

 

Day 10 (Wednesday). Resting and shopping day in Sarlat.  Departure dinner.

Day 11 (Friday): October 15th. Departure from Sarlat early morning for Blagnac Airport. (2h20 : allow for travel time to catch your return flight).

Cost: single accommodation: 4313€ = $5076 (1=0.84)

 

This trip will include transfers from the Airport of Toulouse (Blagnac) to Sarlat la Caneda and back, 4-stars Hotel and Spa in Sarlat la Caneda (including breakfast), arrival  and departure dinners, all local transports, all excursions (as mentioned above) and guided visits, wine and local produce tasting, a guided food tour, and two lunches (Chateau des Milandes and Comptoir des Halles).
