Clubs - L'Alliance Comique / Drama Club
The Drama Club of the Alliance Française de Providence came into being in the fall 2006. Since then, there has been a performance every year for friends of the Alliance, usually in conjunction with another event such as a musical presentation or an award ceremony.

A small group has worked collaboratively and democratically on selection, weekly rehearsals (Saturday morning from 10:00am to 12:00pm) and performance. Friends of members are welcome at rehearsal, as are their ideas and observations.
The coordinator, Joseph Scott, is a retired French teacher with 45 years of classroom experience and a wide variety of presentational experience as well.
Rehearsal and performances are entirely in French, except that clarifications and heated and subtle interpretive considerations may be resolved using English, of course. it is a great pleasure for a group including a retired teacher, a school Director, young professionals and teenagers to work together in French on dramatic presentations and techniques. Occasional dramatic exercises and activities emphasize the "play" in play. Roles are distributed in accord with individual preference and equal sharing. Variations on intepretation make for lively conversations and an engaging experience.
You are invited to join L'Alliance Comique, especially if you have a desire to speak French that you truly know by heart with others who enjoy doing the same.
