LA CHORALE
2011/2012 SEASON - Wednesdays 7:15pm-8:45pm (Weekly)
The choral group of the Alliance Française has been singing in Providence since 2004. With a beautiful and original repertory of traditional and popular songs, the group performs several times a year in a very friendly atmosphere. Give it a try! If you know how to say "bonjour" et "bon appétit" then you are good to join! Please feel free to visit us during a period of rehearsal. French language should not be a barrier for you as all explanations are given in English language. The choral group follows two seasons: The first one from September until December, the second one from January until May. We currently have two concerts scheduled (October and December).
Our Choral Director
Jacqueline Devilliers studied piano, voice and early wind instruments in France and in the U.S. She taught at conservatories and performed as soloist in Paris in the provinces while pursuing her musical career. She was directing the "Chorale Eric Satie" in Honfleur, Normandy. She currently teaches at the "Rhode Island Philarmonic Music School." She holds U.S. and French citizenship.
This fall Jacqueline will offer small group classes in SIGHT-READING, PIANO, AND VOCAL TRAINING, with a focus on positive management of the voice either for solo or choral singing. Our choral group reinforces learning and gives added pleasures in making music together. As extra benefit, one can learn French by singing a French repertoire.
"La Chorale" membership: $120 (1st Semester) / $100 for AF Members
Individual Lessons: $30/half hour
Group Lessons (3 persons max): $20 per person (45mn)
